April 2, 2020

To our valued students and clients,

We would like to share another update regarding our courses and operations, as restrictions to contain the spread of COVID-19 remain in place.

We are continuously reviewing the announcements and recommendations from the Ministry of Health, the Canadian Red Cross, WorkSafeBC and other relevant governing bodies. The health and safety of our students, staff and communities is our top concernWe have made the difficult decision to temporary suspend our classes.

All April classes are cancelled. We are currently planning to re-open on May 4. However, please appreciate that the situation is evolving at a rapid rate, and we will be re-evaluating this timeline on an ongoing basis. Students will be able to enter another later course at no charge, or will have the option to receive a refund.

We appreciate that many of you may have concerns regarding the expiration of your CRC or WorkSafe certification. Both organizations have advised they are providing temporary extensions. All Red Cross first aid certifications that would have expired between March and June 30, 2020 will be consider valid for 90 days beyond their expiry date. Any WorkSafe Occupational First Aid certificate due to expire between March 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020 will be acceptable in the workplace for 90 days beyond the original expiry.

These are unprecedented times and we continue to monitor announcements. We will share additional updates as they become relevant.

We would like to close by expressing our sincere thanks to all the essential workers – from paramedics, doctors and nurses, to grocery workers, to cleaners and janitorial staff – who continue to work on the front lines so that the rest of us may stay safe and healthy.

Individuals looking for more information on the virus can access the BC Centre for Disease Control at http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/coronavirus-(novel).

Sincerely,

Nicola Harper
